They both fell asleep on the sofa. Positions still the same as when they sat down after Kyuhyun had left.
It's already morning when they both wake up. Changmin choosing to just stay on the couch and not move. Looking at the cake box and the little black box in the transparent yellow patterned heart bag in front of him.
Yoochun didn't want to get up either. He wanted to just lie there and let his pain eat away at his heart. He wanted to but he wanted his Eunhyuk even more.
Getting up, he washed up and made a quick breakfast for himself and Changmin.
He knew that the younger wouldn't get up. He knew that the younger wouldn't get up for a while either. No matter how much Changmin loves food, this time he fell hard. He fell hard for Kyuhyun and no amount of food in the world was going to get him off that couch and eat.
Sighing, Yoochun placed Changmin's portion of breakfast on the breakfast tray and brought it over to the sofa. Lightly placing it on the coffee table, Yoochun gave Changmin once last glace before walking out of the apartment. They both needed time to think and find a way to fix this mess that they created themselves. If they want to fix it at all.
Lying on his back on the couch, Changmin looked up at the white ceiling. He wasn't hungry. He didn't want to eat for once. He wanted things to be right again. He wanted Kyuhyun to come back. He wanted to at least explain but he knew that wasn't going to happen.
Kyuhyun had given him more than one chance in the past. This was his last. His last chance. His last time he was going to forgive Changmin.
Rolling onto his side, Changmin stared at the cake box and the black box. The black box that he had once loved and anticipated for it to be opened and cherished.
Now it was just a box of evil. A black box of pain, blood, hate and pure evil. Grabbing the bag, Changmin took the black box out of the bag and tossed the bag on the floor. He really didn't care anymore. His life is already a mess. What's his living room being one too.
Holding the retched black box in hand, Changmin stared at it for a long time. One hand holding the bow while the other softly touching the smooth silk wrapping the lid to tugging gently at the crisp white ribbon neatly perched on top of the box. Smiling, Changmin's mind began to wander to when he first picked out the box. How happy he was imagining the look on Kyuhyun's face, when he presented the box, his confession and then what would it be like when Kyuhyun agreed. He had prepared himself of Kyuhyun saying "No" but not this. He had not prepared himself for the possibility that Kyuhyun would not even give him a clear answer and leave him because of some misunderstanding of what Kyuhyun had seen and heard Yoochun and him say and do.
Lifting the lid open and tossing it aside, the silver band with the bit of sparkle in the center sparkled at him. It wasn't too flashy with tons of diamonds all over. It was simple, just like how Kyuhyun would have liked it. The beautiful ring glowed and shined at him. He hated it. He hated it, sitting in its black box in his hands and not on Kyuhyun's finger. Not on Kyuhyun's finger who would agree to be his and his alone. For now, for life, forever.
Taking the ring out, he slipped it onto his own finger. Knowing full well that there's no one to use it now. No one who wanted it. Not him. Not Kyuhyun. No one that mattered.
Glancing sideways at the cake box, Changmin sighed.
Sitting upright, he looked at the box and slowly opened the side flap. Pulling the cake out, Changmin really felt like crying and bashing his head into the nearest wall repeatedly. The cake had been left out over night but it looked beautiful as ever. The looks and taste didn't matter compared to the piece of white chocolate slab. The words on it were the most important. The elegant black icing written in neat Korean without the honorifics was purely Kyuhyun.
"Seeing that we've been together for a while now, I'm not going to speak informal to you, Minnie. You had given me this ring and asked me to be yours. I didn't give you an answer then because I wasn't ready. I wasn't ready for such a commitment. But now I feel that I am. This is the last chance that I'm giving you. My answer is yes. I will be yours. Willingly. Not like last time. ¬¬ ¬¬ Do you still want me Changminnie?"
Changmin smiled at the nickname. Kyuhyun had always called him either Changmin or Minnie but not Changminnie. He said that was too childish and that Cho Kyuhyun was not the girl in this relationship.
"You say you're not a girl but with me, you're willing to be in this relationship. Kyu, come back. Come back to me. I miss you. I love you." Sighing, Changmin left the cake and breakfast alone. Lying back down on the couch, Changmin curled into a ball and looked at the ring on his finger. Letting the tears fall, Changmin closed his eyes and held the hand with the ring close to his heart.
"Come back Kyu, I need you."
He called out over and over again. Hoping that Kyuhyun would magically appear before him but he knew that wasn't going to happen. He screwed up for the last time and now it's all over.
A/N: Awww sad ending for KyuMin. No happily ever after.
