Looking out the window, his mind wandered to the streets. Looking around the pedestrians carrying on with their lives and all looking happy. He envied them. He wasn't stupid. He had seen the news. He had heard what happened. He had read what happened. He had researched just to make sure.
Shim Changmin was in the hospital.
He knew that yet he didn't visit the boy. He couldn't. Yesung would have but Jongwoon didn't know him. That day, when he left the fountain, he had vowed that Yesung would disappear and Jongwoon would take his place. True to his word, it's been a month and no matter how many times he would fight himself on whether or not he should go see Changmin, Jongwoon had always won in the end.
It's not that Yesung's love was weak and that he couldn't fight against Jongwoon. It was the fear of seeing Changmin again and possibly falling even harder for the younger boy.
During the past month, Jongwoon had moved on with his life, gotten a new job, new apartment, new life. On the outside he looks like a happy guy. Smiling and very kind to everyone. On the inside, Yesung was dying. His hurt was hurting tremendously. He was worried for Changmin. Is he okay? Is he coping? Is he eating properly? Tons of questions about the boy's well being were on his mind constantly. Yesung may have disappeared but he was still apart of Jongwoon. Even if Jongwoon is here now, Changmin still had a hold on him.
Every day it was a battle. A battle between the personalities of who will take over and do what their heart is screaming at them to do. Yesung hadn't given the ring back to Changmin. He had kept it and he still has it. It's in a little box on his bedside table. Every night before he went to bed and every morning when he first wakes up, he'd open the box and look at the ring. He'd take it out and slip it on his finger only to take it off a minute later. He still thinks of what would have happened if he didn't break it off with Changmin. Where he would be and would he be broken like he is now?
He doesn't know what's going on with Changmin. He doesn't know what the boy is going through and he hates that. He wants to know. He would do anything to know. He wants to be there for Changmin and help him in any way that he can. Even if he gets pushed away, or beaten to a bloody pulp or gets his heart run over and tossed aside like trash, he wants to see Changmin again. But he couldn't. He had no right to.
Jongwoon hated himself for this. Yesung was supposed to be the one that loves Changmin. Not him. He hated himself over the fact that Changmin has won both him and his other self. No matter if he changes between the two, Shim Changmin still holds their heart.
Sighing, Jongwoon took a sip of his now cold coffee. He didn't notice that he sat there thinking about Changmin for so long. Sometimes he doesn't even notice if hours go by when he's thinking about Changmin. It's become a daily occurrence. He'd be thinking of Changmin and seconds, minutes and even hours could pass and he wouldn't realize it.
"Yo Changmin!" Someone shouted out loud.
Jongwoon whipped his head around in the direction of the voice. He didn't see Changmin. He only saw a guy a few years younger than him, clutching his stomach and doubling over in laughter. Jongwoon rolled his eyes and turned around and went back to his cold coffee. The guy eventually stopped laughing and walked up to Jongwoon's table. Taking the seat across from Jongwoon, the guy laughed at his expression.
"You so haven't gotten over him, Jongie."
"You didn't have to shout out his name like that." Jongwoon said coolly.
"I didn't but I did and your reaction was priceless. You whipped around so fast, it was so funny. It could have been a different Changmin for all you know. It might not have been your Changmin but you still looked. You so love him."
"Shut up Donghae."
"Or what? You'll glare at me?"
Jongwoon didn't say anything but glared at Donghae like he said he would.
Donghae waved off the glare and ordered a large strawberry bubble tea, a barbecue steak sub with napa cabbage slaw and a refill for Jongwoon.
"Do you want anything to eat?" Donghae asked, while the waitress was at their table.
"I'll have a bowl of budae jjigae."
"Will that be a small, medium or large bowl?" The waitress asked.
"Small is fine." Jongwoon said then he looked at Donghae.
"Never mind, change it to a large and can I have an extra bowl?"
"Of course." The waitress smiled. "Your food will be done in about 10 minutes."
The two nodded at the waitress and went back to lounging and chatting.
"Why'd you change to large?" Donghae asked playing around with the salt, sugar and pepper shakers on the table and experimenting with them and Jongwoon's coffee.
"I know you'll whine about wanting some, and I'll say no but you'll just grab it yourself and eat it then you'll get hungry for it so a large is the way to go."
"So the extra bowl's for me?"
"Aww Jongie! You're the best!" Donghae exclaimed, jumping up from his seat and hugging the older male.
Jongwoon pushed Donghae off of him and gladly accept his drink from the waitress that came by with their drinks. Donghae settled down and sipped his bubble tea. His cheeks were puffed and he had drunk a quarter of the glass already.
"Are you going to see him?"
"No." There was no point in hiding it. Donghae knew. Jongwoon had done a pretty good job about keeping his life before the sudden change of environment a secret but one party, a lot of drinks and Donghae had known everything the next morning. Even though Donghae knew everything he stilled like to call Jongwoon, Jongwoon instead of Yesung unless he was really bored and wanted to piss the older off.
"Why not?" Donghae whined.
"Why you are whining when it's not even you who has to go or not?"
"Because I want to see you happy."
"Liar." Donghae pouted, eyes squinting and eyeing Jongwoon.
The waitress came over with their food and set the plates down on the table. Donghae tore his eyes away from Jongwoon and stared at the hot delicious food in front of him. Jongwoon paid no attention to the Fish in front of him. He began to fill the extra bowl with budae jjigae. Donghae completely forgot about glaring at Jongwoon and dug into his bbq steak sub. The two ate their food in a comfortable silence. The "threatening" aura was gone. It wasn't even threatening really because this is Donghae. The day Jongwoon is afraid of Donghae is the day he's straight.
A/N: Cliff hanger I know. Cameo from Donghae~ So far not sure what Jongwoon is to Donghae. Friend? Best friend? Crush? Something? XD
