It's some time past five in the morning. The sky is a murky blackish blue. It looks like it's going to rain. Standing in front of the tall floor to ceiling window, Yesung stared out at the endless city in front of him. He had gotten up early, went to work, worked overtime, and then gone home. He hasn't eaten anything since lunch and he didn't feel like it. He had taken a long bath, mostly sitting there and thinking of Changmin. He had gone to bed early only to lie there and not sleep. That was hours ago.
There wasn't much to do now. He can either go see Changmin and possibly send him into a panic attack or not see him and continue to hurt them both. There isn't a third option where no one gets hurt. It was just a matter which option would hurt less.
Donghae had called him earlier and told him what Kibum had said. Changmin's doctor had said that Changmin had a recent attack and if these random attacks continue to happen and get stronger, then Changmin's health is on the line. The next time that Changmin has an attack it might be the last time he'll wake up.
Hearing the news, it hurt to know that his love could never wake up again. He knew that Donghae could be lying but his voice when he told him; it held the same emotion when Donghae's father passed away. He wasn't lying.
The most painful thing that Donghae told him was that Changmin was giving up. Giving up on waiting for him and giving up on them. The ring that he had always kept on during their breakup and during the past month, Kibum had seen Changmin slip it on and off numerous times. So far, Changmin had always put it back on right after he took it off but now that he's giving up, he really might take it off for good.
The skies got darker. It started to pour. A thunderstorm. A really big and dangerous one. Sparks in the sky were bright and loud. Thunder and lightning clashing and fighting. Rain pellets hit against the windows.
Yesung sighed and turned away from the storm. Walking over to his bed, he crawled under the covers and tried to catch whatever sleep he could before he had to get up at seven to get ready for work.
Seven came too quick for Yesung's liking. It's time to put on the mask and be Jongwoon again. To pretend that he's okay and happy and not hurting inside.
Seeing Donghae at work cheered him up a bit. Someone who knew the real him and knew what's going on in his life.
"You look dead." Donghae said passing Yesung a cup of coffee he had picked up earlier.
"For the coffee or for the compliment?"
"Coffee. Looking dead isn't my style."
"Well too bad. You look it."
"Don't tempt me at dumping this cup of hot coffee down your pants." Jongwoon glared, already moving the cup closer to Donghae's front.
"Okay! I'm sorry!" Donghae shouted, running behind his desk and moved away from Jongwoon.
Jongwoon rolled his eyes and sipped his coffee. He may have changed but coffee is still the one thing that's the same.
"Hey." Donghae called out quietly, not looking at Jongwoon but at the monitor on his desk.
Jongwoon didn't reply. He continued to stand in their shared office leaning against the island in the middle of the big modern styled with water front views that split the room in half. Side to the left being Donghae's office and the side to the right being Jongwoon's.
Donghae took Jongwoon's silence as a silent yes to continue and that he really is listening even though he doesn't look it.
"I heard what the boss said. Are you really going to accept the offer?"
"This isn't about me. It's about you Jongwoon."
"I know it isn't but you are very much a part of it now and I just want your opinion on the matter. So would you take it if it's given to you?"
"In my position or yours?"
"I don't know. The offer is amazing. It's a once in a life time opportunity. If you agree, you'll be able to make a huge name for yourself. Everyone would know who you are. But it means leaving this place. It'll mean leaving Korea and not coming back for 6 years."
"It'll mean leaving Changmin behind to pursue your career and not fix your relationship."
"It'll mean that you'll never see him again because right at this moment he could be having an attack and fall into a deep sleep. A sleep that the chances of him waking up again are slim. And even if that's not happening right now, it can happen anytime during those 6 years."
"It'll mean that you'll never get to say what you've been thinking for the past 4 months since you broke up. You'll never hear his voice. You'll never see him smile."
"Stop saying that damn it!" Donghae shouted, throwing a pile of papers at Jongwoon.
The papers flew everywhere. Landing roughly on the floor scattered and forgotten.
"Why? It's all I know. I know all that. After I got home yesterday and all of last night, I've been thinking about it and what it could mean Donghae. I've thought of millions of reasons of why I should and shouldn't go. In the end it all lead to one thing. One person. Changmin. To stay near him or get away from him. It's still him. It's still about him. It's still because of him."
"Do you think there'll be a time when it's not about him?" Donghae asked, walking over to the windows and leaning against it. His eyes looking at the Jongwoon's side profile and not the sea below.
"No but I'm getting used to the numbness. It's fine."
"It's not fine to be feeling the need to see him again. You'll lose yourself with what's real and what's fake. You'll start to imagine him with you and standing next to you when really it's just your mind. You'll go crazy Yesung!"
"SO? SO? GO AND FUCKING SEE HIM!" Donghae shouted, running to Yesung and grabbing onto the front of his shirt.
"You think I don't want to? I fucking do but I can't! If I go see him, his heart won't be able to take it. His heart would beat too fast and he'd be in a fucking coma for the rest of his life! Or he could fucking die!"
"YOU DON'T KNOW THAT!"
"YES I FUCKING DO!" Yesung grabbed onto Donghae's collar and pressed his back into the island.
"I know the reason for his random attacks is because he's thinking of me and waiting for me. He wants to see me so that we can get back together but the more he thinks of me the faster his heart starts to hurt and he goes into an attack! I'm not fucking stupid! I know I'm the cause behind it. If I go see him his heart won't be able to take it. I'm not going to watch him clutch onto his heart and see him in pain before he sleeps forever!" Yesung snarled, ramming Donghae into the island once more before letting go and go over to his desk.
"Is that it then? You're going to give up and let him give up on you?"
"The faster he gives up on me the better. He'll get better and his heart won't ware out faster than it should."
"How do you know that if you're by his side he won't get better?"
"I don't but I'm not going to risk his life to chance it."
"So you're really going to accept the offer to go to New York to perfect your skills to become a first class photographer? You're really going to leave Changmin?"
"What? You're not going to guilt me into not leaving my family and friends?"
"You've done that already. You done it and succeeded for one month now. You can easily do it again. The only person that really matters is Changmin. Are you really going to leave him?"
"I don't know. The offer is getting more and more tempting by the second."
"Are you really willing to leave for 6 years and not get back with Changmin?"
"Why do you care so much Donghae?"
"Because I know what it feels like to lose someone you love. You can't turn back time no matter how hard you try. I just don't want you to have any regrets. Whatever you decide, I hope you don't regret it."
"It's a little late for that Donghae. If I had a choice to go back in time and not meet Changmin I would take it. He'd be happy right now."
"And what about you?"
"What about me?"
"Would you be happy too?"
"My happiness is irrelevant. His happiness comes before mine."
"Enough Donghae. We still have a lot of work to do for the photo shoot tomorrow." Yesung said in a stern voice that left no room for objection.
Donghae nodded his head and bent down to pick up the papers that were on the floor. Placing the papers back on his desk, he sneaked a glance at Yesung and let out an inaudible sigh.
What are you going to do Yesung? Are you going to decline this once in a life time opportunity to stay here and be near Changmin or are you going to accept and leave him and possibly never see him again? Time's running out Yesung. You only have less than a week to decide. Which are you going to choose?
A/N: Oohhhh. Some random twist LOL.
